In 2008, Gordon selected 10 refill casks that had been laid down 40 years prior, in 1968. Within these casks, he found a beautifully light-colored spirit, possessing the ethereal and fragrant qualities found only in the oldest and finest whiskies. He transferred the contents of these 10 casks into first-fill sherry-seasoned casks, carefully chosen for the specific character he envisioned, and patiently nurtured the maturing whisky for an additional 14 years until it reached the desired flavor and character.

Only 225 bottles of this exceptional whisky have been released, symbolizing each year of Highland Park's 225-year history, and each one encapsulates the enchantment of the Orkney Islands.

Tasting Note by Highland Park:
Lychees, Aromatic camphor, Vintage oak, Crushed cumin and coriander seeds, Fragrant rose, Sweet jasmine, Honeyed kiwi fruit, Pistachio biscotti, Fenugreek, Delicate heathery peat smoke.

Highland Park Distillery: Where Viking Spirit Meets Timeless Craftsmanship

Highland Park Distillery, situated on the remote Orkney Islands, is celebrated as a bastion of Scottish whisky heritage with a touch of Viking influence. Founded in 1798, the distillery draws inspiration from its Norse heritage, with whiskies that pay homage to the Viking roots of the Orkney region. Highland Park whiskies are renowned for their balance, complexity, and unique character, showcasing a harmonious combination of peat smoke, rich fruitiness, and honeyed sweetness. The distillery takes pride in its traditional malting floors, where a portion of its barley is still malted, connecting it to its historical roots. Each sip of Highland Park whisky offers a journey into a world where Viking spirit meets timeless craftsmanship, capturing the rugged and mystical essence of the Orkney Islands.

The Unique Influence of Norse Heritage at Highland Park Distillery

What sets Highland Park Distillery apart and makes it truly unique is its deep connection to its Norse heritage. The distillery pays homage to its Viking roots through the use of Norse-inspired branding and storytelling, infusing its whiskies with a sense of history and mythology. Highland Park's location on the windswept Orkney Islands, which were once inhabited by Vikings, contributes to the unique character of its whiskies. The distillery's traditional malting floors, where a portion of its barley is still malted in the traditional way, add to the authenticity of its production process. Highland Park is one of the few distilleries that continues to use traditional peat from the Hobbister Moor, providing a distinct smoky character to its whiskies. The combination of traditional methods, Norse heritage, and the unique terroir of the Orkney Islands results in whiskies that embody the spirit of the Vikings and the timeless craftsmanship of Scottish whisky-making. Highland Park Distillery remains a cherished name among whisky enthusiasts seeking a taste of the rugged and mystical allure of the far north.
