    Description

The 2022 release of Aberfeldy's 18 Year Old is an exquisite blend, saturated with the luscious aroma of cherry frangipane. Matured in Bolgheri Tuscan red wine casks, the whisky is enriched with the signature robustness of the wine, echoing profound flavors of dark fruits such as blackberry and dark cherry. These wine-soaked casks further introduce an intense oak finish, making Aberfeldy’s malt a harmonious amalgamation of the best of both worlds. This edition, being a limited release, offers a remarkable and memorable sipping experience for the discerning palate.

    Tasting Note by Aberfeldy:
With heady of notes of cherry frangipane and vanilla spice. It’s then freshened with sliced green pepper and limes, and finishes with soft oak.

Aberfeldy Distillery: Golden Spirit of Highland Single Malt

Aberfeldy Distillery, located in the scenic heart of the Highlands in Scotland, is celebrated for its production of exquisite single malt Scotch whisky. Founded in 1898, this historic distillery is nestled near the picturesque town of Aberfeldy, known for its pristine water source—the Pitilie Burn. Aberfeldy whiskies are characterized by their golden hue and a smooth, honeyed sweetness that is emblematic of the Highland style. The distillery takes pride in using traditional copper pot stills and slow fermentation to capture the essence of the region's rugged landscapes and rich heritage. Each sip of Aberfeldy whisky reveals layers of flavor, from delicate floral and fruity notes to a gentle touch of spice, culminating in a beautifully balanced and satisfying experience.

The sentimental connection to John Dewar, the founder of the distillery, who was born nearby, likely played a role in choosing the location. The architectural design was entrusted to Charles Doig, a prominent distillery architect, with the iconic pagoda roof as his signature feature. Construction began in 1896, and the distillery's layout follows a logical and linear design, showcasing the different stages of whisky production.

The Unique Elixir of Aberfeldy Distillery

What sets Aberfeldy Distillery apart and makes it truly unique is its commitment to capturing the spirit of the Highlands in each drop of its whisky. With a location surrounded by scenic landscapes and access to the renowned Pitilie Burn water source, the distillery harnesses the natural elements of the region to create whiskies of unparalleled character. Aberfeldy is also known for its long fermentation process, which allows the flavors to develop slowly and create a distinctive complexity in the final product. Furthermore, Aberfeldy whiskies prominently feature a core flavor profile of honeyed sweetness, derived from their use of golden malted barley. This signature character sets Aberfeldy apart from other distilleries, offering a distinct and memorable taste that has captivated whisky enthusiasts worldwide. Aberfeldy Distillery's commitment to tradition, the influence of its Highland surroundings, and the unique flavor profile of its whiskies combine to create an exceptional elixir that truly embodies the spirit of the Highlands.

The distillery's on-site production process includes an extra-long fermentation process in larch washbacks and distillation in tall pot stills, providing scenic views of the Perthshire hills. These meticulous processes contribute to the honeyed richness for which Aberfeldy whisky is renowned. Although Aberfeldy has gained popularity as a single malt, it remains an essential component of Dewar's blend, adding its characteristic heather honey flavor to America's top-selling Scotch whisky.
