Introduced in 1993, the DoubleWood 12 was birthed from a method pioneered by The Balvenie's Malt Master, David Stewart, in 1982—a technique now widely recognized as 'wood finishing'.
To craft The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE begins with whisky aged for at least 12 years in traditional whisky containers, consisting of American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. This is subsequently transitioned to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, where it remains for an added nine months.
Following this, the whisky is shifted to large oak receptacles, known as "tuns", for a period spanning 3-4 months. This crucial step allows the distinct whiskies from separate casks to seamlessly "marry" together.
Owing its unique profile to maturation in dual wood types, The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky imbibes varied attributes at each phase. The conventional casks infuse it with a subtle, delicate character; the sherry wood imparts depth and a rich flavor palette; and the concluding stint in the tuns ensures a harmonious blend of the whiskies.

A unique single malt from the budding Lochlea distillery in the Lowlands, exclusively bottled for Inverarity Morton! Established in 2018, this whisky was produced in the distillery's second year and was stored in an ex-red wine hogshead in February 2020. By 2023, 410 bottles were extracted from this cask, with no added color, no chill filtration, and at a powerful cask strength of 61.2% ABV.

It undergoes an intense blast of rich, sweet, and spicy Spanish sherry casks, resulting in a fiery, explosive, and incredibly bold dram that packs a punch so strong it might even turn your skull red.
Tasting Note by Smokehead:Palate: Thick peat then fruitier, creamier feel - soft rich oak, soothing custard and vanilla. The hit of oily black smoke, with a rich, heavy mouthcoating peaty feel. Then along comes a sweet sticky flavour if barbecued banana, tangy sultanas and dried fruits.Finish: The peat returns, just as you hoped. This time it's brought some authentic Spanish sherry oakiness with it, pleasingly and disturbingly sweet. And one last sharp salty reminder that you're not dealing with the ordinary here.
Ledaig 10 is a meticulously crafted 10-year-old single malt whisky known for its unique smoky profile, originating from Tobermory Distillery. Much like all their single malts, this peated Ledaig undergoes no chill filtration and retains its natural color.
