On September 4th, 2008, this whisky embarked on a 12-year maturation journey within the hallowed confines of Deanston Distillery's vaulted ceiling warehouse, resting in Oloroso sherry casks.
The result is a harmonious marriage between the dry, nutty sherry tones imparted by the Oloroso casks and the smooth, honeyed character of Deanston single malt. Together, they create a delightful synergy of flavors, where treacle toffee and fruity notes seamlessly intertwine with festive spices.
This limited-edition whisky, totaling 13,227 bottles, is bottled at a robust 52.7% ABV. It proudly retains its non-chillfiltered nature and the rich, natural color derived from the maturation process, making it a truly distinctive and exceptional whisky.
Tasting Note by Deanston:
Nose: Cherries and chocolate reminiscent of a black forest gateaux, followed by sweet spice, nutmeg and sultanas.
Palate: Treacle toffee, dark fruits and festive spice with hints of mocha and a touch of pine.
Finish: Long and warming finish with notes of gingerbread and nutmeg.
