    Description

Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair, pronounced 'stew-rahdur,' means 'helmsman' in Scots Gaelic. This sherried malt whisky, unaltered in color and non-chill filtered, brings the coastal charm of Bunnahabhain Bay to your glass, with hints of sea spray and dried fruit.

Stiùireadair pays tribute to the Bunnahabhain Helmsman, an emblem of our heritage and enduring love for the sea. Crafted by our Master Blender, it combines sherry casks of different ages and origins to showcase the coastal essence of Bunnahabhain, while retaining the beloved sherry influence found in our famous 12-year-old whisky.

    Tasting Note by Bunnahabhain:
Nose: Dried fruit and creamy caramel with hints of brine, vanilla, nuts and a touch of spice.
Palate: Creamy mouth feel with a dried fruit influence, sea salt, creamy caramel with hints of nuts and a gentle spice.
Finish: Long and lingering with hints of dried fruit.

A beautifully smooth single malt whisky. Not too peaty for one from Islay.

Bunnahabhain Distillery: Unearthing Islay's Hidden Gem

Bunnahabhain Distillery, nestled on the northeastern shores of the mystical Isle of Islay in Scotland, is celebrated as a hidden gem among the island's distilleries. Established in 1881, Bunnahabhain whiskies are renowned for their unpeated or lightly peated character, a departure from the typical peaty nature associated with Islay whiskies. The distillery's location on the Sound of Islay contributes to its unique maritime influence, imparting a gentle brininess to its whiskies. Bunnahabhain takes pride in its commitment to preserving the natural flavors of its whiskies, with a focus on using natural color and non-chill filtration. Each sip of Bunnahabhain whisky is an invitation to discover the softer and more delicate side of Islay, evoking a sense of tranquility and mystery.

The Unique Tranquility of Bunnahabhain Distillery

What sets Bunnahabhain Distillery apart and makes it truly unique is its embrace of tranquility and its departure from the peaty stereotypes of Islay whiskies. The distillery's dedication to producing unpeated or lightly peated expressions sets it apart, offering a different perspective on the whisky character that emerges from the island's terroir. Bunnahabhain's whiskies showcase a softer, more approachable nature, with a focus on the underlying malt flavors and the influence of the sea. The distillery's commitment to minimal intervention during production, including natural color and non-chill filtration, allows the true essence of the whiskies to shine through. Bunnahabhain also features older vintage releases, highlighting the exceptional quality of aged whiskies from its warehouses. As a result, Bunnahabhain Distillery remains a cherished destination for those seeking a serene and contemplative Islay whisky experience, with each bottle unveiling the hidden tranquility and allure of the island's gentle spirit.
