  • Sale -10% Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood

    Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood

Introduced in 1993, the DoubleWood 12 was birthed from a method pioneered by The Balvenie's Malt Master, David Stewart, in 1982—a technique now widely recognized as 'wood finishing'. To craft The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE begins with whisky aged for at least 12 years in traditional whisky containers, consisting of American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. This is subsequently transitioned to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, where it remains for an added nine months. Following this, the whisky is shifted to large oak receptacles, known as "tuns", for a period spanning 3-4 months. This crucial step allows the distinct whiskies from separate casks to seamlessly "marry" together. Owing its unique profile to maturation in dual wood types, The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky imbibes varied attributes at each phase. The conventional casks infuse it with a subtle, delicate character; the sherry wood imparts depth and a rich flavor palette; and the concluding stint in the tuns ensures a harmonious blend of the whiskies. Tasting Note by Balvenie:Nose: Sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry notes, layered with honey and vanilla.Palate: Smooth and mellow with beautifully combined flavours ~ nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry.Finish: Long and Warming.

  • Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie

    Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie

The foundation for the Classic Laddie is not a fixed recipe, but rather a distilling philosophy. They don't pursue exact uniformity; instead, each year, the type and origin of their barley influence their spirit. Moreover, they continuously acquire a diverse range of casks to enrich the assortment of flavors in their warehouse. Instead of aiming for strict consistency, every batch of the Classic Laddie is naturally distinct and varies subtly. Producing the Classic Laddie is among the most intricate and demanding tasks entrusted to their Head Distiller, Adam Hannett. He personally selects an assembly of the finest spirits to achieve the signature fruity and floral Bruichladdich house style. Crafting each distinct recipe is an intensive procedure. Adam has to meticulously assess every spirit based on its aroma, taste, and texture. This process is time-consuming and challenging, necessitating a sharp focus and multiple checks, pauses, and reassessments over several weeks. The ultimate composition is determined in the solitude of his tasting room. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: The bouquet is brilliant. Opening with barley sugar and a hint of mint before leading into the most wonderful notes of freshly cut wild flowers; buttercup, daisy, meadowsweet, myrtle, primrose and cherry blossom. The cleanliness of the spirit is remarkable. As the seconds tick by, more aromas rise from the glass, little zephyrs of spindrift and sea pinks reminding you that this spirit is matured exclusively by the sea. After some four or five minutes and with the addition of a little water, caramelised fruits drift onto the scene; lemon drops and honey, tangerine and tablet.Palate: The palate entry is so refined and refreshing, the sweet oak and the barley arriving together sending the taste buds into raptures. The fruits from distillation drift in on an Atlantic breeze and pop on the tongue like champagne bubbles. A combination of ripe green fruit, brown sugar and sweet malt bring closure. A taste back in time, a realisation that not all single malts are equal and to achieve the absolute optimum, you must use barley that is made in Scotland. Make this one the benchmark for all others you meet on your journey through the stills of Scotland.Finish: Unforgettable! Its best enjoyed in good company, you just don’t want the evening to end. It brings warmth to the heart and soul. The clock slows down and the cares of tomorrow disappear into the dawn.

GlenAllachie 2012 9 Year Old Cuvee Cask Finish

For The GlenAllachie Wine Cask Series, Master Blender Billy Walker initiated the process by expertly maturing their spirit in the finest American oak ex-Bourbon barrels before transferring the whisky into carefully chosen European wine barriques for a secondary aging phase. Adding a unique twist to this release, Billy blended four exceptional wine cask finishes to create a distinctive expression: The Cuvée Wine Cask Finish. Drawing from the wine industry, the term 'Cuvée' typically refers to a blend that incorporates multiple grape varieties. Similarly, their 9-year-old Cuvée represents a harmonious marriage of spirits from several esteemed wine casks sourced from renowned regions like Bordeaux, Languedoc, and Valpolicella. Billy meticulously monitored the character development of each individual barrique, skillfully blending the whiskies together. The resulting golden liquid reveals notes of elegant stone fruits, hints of toasted almonds, and a lively touch of zesty orange peel on the palate. This limited expression is bottled without chill-filtration to preserve its flavor and retains its natural color, boasting an ABV of 48%. Their commitment to authenticity and delivering exceptional whisky shines through in this creation. Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013

For nearly two decades, they have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to sourcing barley locally. This release, the Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013, marks the eighth edition of their unpeated single malt whisky crafted from barley grown in the vicinity. Although each expression from individual growing seasons possesses subtle distinctions, a distinctive profile has emerged over time, characterized by a blend of maritime and citrus notes, with barley at the forefront, within these intricate single malts. The latest vintage of unpeated Bruichladdich Islay Barley showcases barley harvested during the 2012 growing season, which was subsequently distilled in 2013. The resulting spirit underwent maturation in a combination of ex-American and ex-European oak casks, aging gracefully over a span of eight years. Tasting Note by Bruichladdich:Nose: This is stunning on the nose. The freshness and purity of the spirit is striking. A kaleidoscope of vibrant aromas pour from the glass, first, citrus and honey notes emerge before stoned fruit, dried apricot, and the perfume of ripe peaches. Sweet notes of marzipan, yellow flowers, vanilla pods, and then zephyrs of spice, cereal, and marine breeze. With time oak notes elevates as the vanilla. As the expression of that marine tang with the sweet citrus and honeyed oaked notes tells the story of our whisky and where it comes from. Natural whisky with no chill filtration means you will experience as long and gentle a finish as you ever thought possible.

    Ardbeg An Oa

The Ardbeg Distillery, while renowned for its distinguished spirits, is also famed for its location. Recognised by both the rugged locals and the more delicately attired visitors, the distillery often endures gusty winds, relentless rain, and ghostly mists. However, its potential onslaught by nature's fierce moods is mitigated by the protective embrace of the Mull of Oa. Serving as a natural barrier, the Mull of Oa stands tall, sheltering the distillery from the Atlantic's formidable wrath. It is this geographical marvel that inspires the creation of Ardbeg An Oa. Mirroring the roundness of its geographical muse, Ardbeg An Oa's character is noticeably rounded and mellow. This unique character is shaped by its time in the distillery's innovative Gathering Vat. Here, a blend of diverse whiskies from varied cask types - ranging from the sweetness of Pedro Ximenez and the spiciness of Virgin charred oak to the depth of ex-bourbon casks - come together.
