    Description

This exceptional single malt, The Second Red Rose, boasting an ABV of 48.1%, has aged gracefully for 21 years and stands as a tribute to the intriguing story of Margaret Douglas, The Fair Maid of Galloway, who resided in Balvenie Castle.

King James, captivated by Margaret's beauty, permitted her to inhabit the castle for the annual fee of a single red rose. It is this charming narrative that serves as the muse behind The Balvenie Second Red Rose. This refined whisky has been matured for two decades and then further enhanced through a finishing period in Australian Shiraz casks, imparting a distinct rosy blush to the whisky.

Indulge in this unique single malt, suffused with the essence of romance. It greets the senses with the allure of ripe fruits and delivers delicate woody spice notes, culminating in a lingering oak finish.

The Balvenie Stories collection, inspired by tales of human endeavor, unearths unexpected twists, as narrated by the craftsmen at The Balvenie distillery in Dufftown, Scotland.

    Tasting Note by Balvenie:
Nose: Intense ripe fruits combined with robust earthy tones, reveal the mouth-watering fragrance from fresh mango and subtle oak.
Palate: An Initial burst of blackberry and ripe peach sweetness, conceal flavours of vibrant oak and cracked black pepper leaving a gentle woody spice.
    Finish: Lingering oakiness.

Balvenie Distillery: Masterful Craftsmanship and Time-Honored Tradition

Balvenie Distillery, nestled in the picturesque Speyside region of Scotland, is renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to time-honored tradition in the production of single malt Scotch whisky. With a history dating back to 1892, Balvenie is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still grows its own barley, malts its own grain, and employs traditional floor malting techniques. This meticulous attention to detail and hands-on approach is evident in the distillery's whiskies, which are known for their complexity, depth of flavor, and exceptional quality. Balvenie whiskies exhibit a rich array of characteristics, from honeyed sweetness and fruit notes to delicate spices and hints of oak, each expression reflecting the artistry and expertise passed down through generations.

The Unique Artistry of Balvenie Distillery

Balvenie Distillery stands out for its unwavering commitment to preserving traditional whisky-making methods and showcasing the artistry of its craftsmen. What makes Balvenie truly unique is its dedication to the Five Rare Crafts, which include growing barley, traditional floor malting, copper pot distillation, cooperage (barrel-making), and maturation in its onsite warehouses. The distillery's cooperage, where skilled coopers handcraft and repair barrels, is a rare sight in the industry and allows for precise control over the maturation process. Balvenie's Malt Master carefully selects and marries casks to create unique expressions that exemplify the distillery's character. This hands-on approach, combined with an emphasis on traditional methods and craftsmanship, results in whiskies that possess remarkable depth, character, and a true sense of heritage. Balvenie Distillery's dedication to preserving the past while creating whiskies of unparalleled quality makes it a revered name among whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
