    Description

This whisky is a blend of 15% first-fill European oak sherry casks, 15% first-fill American oak sherry casks, and 70% premium hand-selected refill oak casks. It reflects Scotland's methodical distillation process, utilising air-dried barley (free from peat) and the meticulous choice of sherry casks crafted from both European and American oak.

    Tasting Note by Glengoyne:
Nose: Sweet, with toffee and popcorn aromas. Slightly nutty, with fresh green apples coming through.

    My wife's favourite whisky!

My wife is more a cognac drinker but she loves Glengoyne. It's her go to whisky, leaving my Speyside collection alone ;-) Yes, in my opinion it's a nice sipping whisky that's not overburdened by the peat flavours found in other west coast (Islay) whiskies. A good buy.

    Glengoyne 10 year old

I first became aware of this malt when my wife pointed out it had won awards in her Good Housekeeping magazine. I had to try it and was very glad I did. The aroma draws you in, the taste is sublime and the warm, mellow unpeated aftertaste is very satisfying. This is now my go-to malt whisky and have even returned to it after trying the 12 year old, which was also very good, but the 10 year old represents superb quality and great value. Finally, I've been very happy to order mine from JPHA as they deliver promptly and securely, even to Northern Ireland.

Glengoyne Distillery: Time-Honored Craftsmanship in the Trossachs

Glengoyne Distillery, nestled in the serene landscapes of the Trossachs in Scotland, is celebrated for its unwavering commitment to time-honored craftsmanship. Established in 1833, the distillery has a long and storied history, with whiskies that are known for their unpeated character and distinctive fruit-forward profile. Glengoyne takes pride in its traditional methods, including the use of air-dried barley and slow distillation in copper pot stills, which contribute to the smooth and elegant nature of its whiskies. The distillery's location on the border between the Highlands and the Lowlands adds a unique element to its character, resulting in whiskies that offer a delicate balance of Highland richness and Lowland finesse. Each sip of Glengoyne whisky reflects the dedication to preserving time-honored practices, delivering a taste of Scotland's true essence.

The Unique Air-Drying Process of Glengoyne Distillery

What sets Glengoyne Distillery apart and makes it truly unique is its exceptional air-drying process for barley. Unlike many other distilleries, Glengoyne does not use peat to dry its barley. Instead, it relies on traditional floor maltings and air-drying, allowing the barley to dry naturally using warm air. This method preserves the barley's natural flavors, giving the whisky a distinctively unpeated and clean character. The slow distillation process in copper pot stills further refines the spirit, producing a smooth and refined whisky with a rich fruitiness. Glengoyne's dedication to traditional methods extends to its aging process, with a wide range of cask types used for maturation, including sherry and bourbon casks, which contribute to the diverse flavor profile of its whiskies. Glengoyne Distillery stands as a testament to the importance of traditional craftsmanship and the beauty of simplicity, offering whisky enthusiasts a taste of the true essence of Scotland's whisky heritage.
